Alberta Sport Donation Fund Program

The Ministry of Culture and Status of Women , Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Donation Fund Program was created to encourage support for the development of sport, physical activity and recreation in Alberta, it gives individual and corporate donors a tax incentive to invest in the future of the sector and a process for the acceptance of contributions from charitable organizations.

In accordance with the Canada Revenue Agency guidelines, the Province is a qualified donee and may issue official donation receipts for unconditional donations.  Further this also allows for the acceptance of contributions from charitable organizations that wish to support eligible sport, physical activity and recreation development programs.

Understanding the unconditional nature of a donation, donors may suggest support of eligible sport, physical activity and recreation development programs.

Eligible organizations include provincial sport, physical activity and recreation organizations receiving operating grants from the Ministry.  The Ministry is not obligated to follow donor suggestions.  For more information please review the Donation Fund Program Guidelines
