COVID19 Open for Summer Updates

As many of you know, the Alberta Government released their Open for Summer plan on May 26th, 2021. This timeline is dependent on hospitalizations continuing to lower and vaccination rates continuing to increase. Due to the progress of Alberta’s vaccination program, starting June 1st, 2021 our province will enter the first stage of this three stage plan. This means that clubs in all regions of the province will be allowed to resume in person training with a maximum of 10 individuals, including all coaches, trainers and participants as long as these activities occur outdoors. Two weeks after Alberta reaches less than 500 hospitalizations (and the trend continues to decrease) and a first dose vaccination rate of 60%, we will enter stage two. In stage two, both youth and adult indoor and outdoor sports are permitted to resume with no restrictions. The third and final stage is set to occur 2 weeks after 70% of all eligible individuals (ages 12 and over) have received their first dose of the COVID19 vaccine. At this stage, all public health restrictions will be lifted and sport will return to operating as it had before the onset of the COVID19 pandemic. Isolation requirements for confirmed COVID19 cases and additional protective measures for continuing care homes will remain in place.

As always, additional information may be shared as official health orders are released to the public. Any changes affecting our sport will be communicated as soon as possible. Both Nordiq Alberta and Biathlon Alberta want to thank you all for what has undoubtedly been a difficult 15 months for all. The end is in sight and we could not have done it without your cooperation and support.
