Grooming in Alberta
As many of you are aware, budget cuts to provincial parks funding have jeopardized the continuation of trail grooming in some of our provinces most frequented ski destinations. The impact that these cuts have on the sport of cross-country skiing in Alberta are akin to the closure of community skating rinks used for hockey as these trails are how we access our sport. We thus urge our members across the province to stand up and make their voices heard and save our trails.
To receive up to date information regarding the proposed solutions and status pf grooming provincially, visit www.kananaskisgrooming.ca. You can also sign up for direct communications via email through this same site. Beyond signing up for updates, members can utilize their voice by emailing their respective MLAs either using their own words or our pre-written template – this direct action lets those who represent us know that these budget cuts affect many Albertans who rely on access for recreation, competition, and training. We also ask that our members utilize their networks to garner more support by sharing our website and speaking to fellow Albertans about the implications of these cuts to funding.
