Call for Special Resolutions

The Nordiq Alberta Annual General Meeting is fast approaching, and with that means a call to our members to submit special resolutions. The 2021 AGM will take place via Zoom on June 26th, 2021. More information for registration to follow. If you would like to submit a special resolution for consideration, please find the submission template here and return it to the office no later than April 27th, 2021.

Nordiq Canada is seeking two full-time National Ski Team coaches to help Canada reach World Championship and Olympic podiums:

  • National Team NextGen Coach
  • National Team World Cup Coach

Alpine Insurance Alberta World Cup Academy

The Alpine Insurance Alberta World Cup Academy (AIAWCA) is growing and has a current opening for a High Performance Coach for the 2021/22 training year. As a designated National Team Development Centre, the Academy is part of Nordiq Canada’s national network of training centres.

This full-time position will be part of the team assisting atalented and dynamic group of athletes that includes members of the Canadian National SkiTeam and Next Gen athletes. The primary role of the coach will be to support our U20, U23 and senior level athletes in our Canmore, Alberta daily training environment. Experience in the technical, tactical and physiological aspects of the sport are essential. The role will also include supporting our Calgary, Alberta daily training environment and biathlon program.

The position will run from June 1st 2021 until March 31st, 2022, and will report directly to the High Performance Program Director. Continued employment beyond the contract end date can be explored in accordance with AIAWCA program strategic planning.

Located in Canmore, Alberta, the High Performance Coach is expected to:
● Have a level of experience and expertise commensurate with the level of athlete training
at the AIAWCA;
● Have a Competition Coaching Development level 4 (NCCP), but applications from
coaches with a Level 3 designation will also be considered. International coaches with a
similar level of experience will be considered at the same level;
● Have superior expertise in all relevant technical aspects of our sport; technical, tactical,
training plan development, etc;
● Have an Alberta Class 4 driver’s license or international equivalent (or ability to obtain
such in the first month on the job);
● Have experience planning and following-up with athletes at the international level;
● Have experience in biathlon (will be considered an asset).

Canmore Nordic Ski Club
Canmore Nordic Ski Club (CNSC) is seeking a part-time, one year term Club Administrator starting May 1, 2021. This position is a one year employment contract, with a possibility for an extension or to become permanent. Reporting to the President, the Club Administrator will work directly with the executive, program director and sub-committees to ensure the smooth operation of the Canmore Nordic Ski Club and its programs. Strong working relationships with the CNSC Board of Directors, committee members, coaches, volunteers, athletes and CNSC members must be developed to be effective.

Remuneration

This part-time, one year, hourly employment contract is based on an average of 20 hours per week, with some weeks greater or less than 20 hours per week plus occasional evenings and weekend requirements. Salary will commensurate based on experience.

Alberta Winter Games 2022

As many in the ski community know, the next Alberta Winter Games were scheduled for this coming New Year in 2022. Unfortunately we must announce that the games have been postponed to an unknown future date. As updates become available we will continue to share them with you.
 

 

Nordiq Canada Annual General Meeting: Call for Proposals to Host 2022 AGM

The 2021 AGM will be held June 19 on Zoom, at which time proposals to host the 2022 AGM will be considered. Please submit your proposal using the AGM Planning and Preparation Policy.

Nominations for Annual Awards

For over 30 years these awards provide national recognition to Canada’s most impactful people in our cross-country ski community…

Know someone who should be nominated?  The Nordiq Canada Awards Committee is calling for nominations! To date, 125 people, from every sector of the country, have been awarded one of these 3 awards:

  • Firth Award presented to a woman who has made an outstanding contribution to cross-country skiing in Canada.
  • 2020 Recipients: Jo-Ann Wolach and Emily Nishikawa.
  • Dave Rees Award presented to a man or woman to recognize outstanding achievement and commitment in the national development of cross-country skiing.
  •  2020 Recipients: Norbert Meier 
  • Volunteer of the Year Award presented to a man or a woman to recognize significant achievement in the regional or national development of cross-country skiing.
  • 2020 Recipients: Richard Turgeon and Lorenzo Caterini. 

Nominations are due May 7.  Awards will be presented at this year’s AGM June 18/19.
